A fundraising campaign has been launched for the family of Julian Cadman, who died in last week’s terror attack in Barcelona.

It was confirmed at the weekend that the seven-year-old had passed away, after getting separated from his mother, Jumarie ‘Jom’ Cadman.

Jom is said to have been seriously injured in the attack, and is now recovering in hospital. She suffered severe fractures to her legs, and is reportedly facing into ‘years of surgery’.

At such a tragic time, family friends are concerned by the possibility that Jom’s insurance does not cover terror attacks.

Scott Bowman, friend of Julian’s grieving father Andy, has set up a GoFundMe page (link here) in a bid to raise enough money to cover Julian’s funeral and Jom’s expenses.

He told the Daily Telegraph: “The concern we have got at the moment is their travel insurance might not cover acts of terrorism, and Jom is going to have ongoing medical expenses.”

The fundraising target has been set at $1 million, and kind members of the public have already donated in excess of a staggering $123,000.

“Andrew, Jom and Julian are a normal Aussie family whose lives have been devastated by the recent tragedy in Bacelona,” writes Scott.

“Like all families, they are paying a mortgage, bills and other sundries. As you can imagine, there will be ongoing medical costs to get Jom back to full health.

“Many people have been asking how they may support the family at this time. We are asking for any contribution for those that may wish to help. This will assist with additional medical and funeral costs for the family. We thank you greatly for any support you may offer.”

The devastating news of Julian’s death was confirmed on Sunday, three days after a van ploughed into crowds at the popular Las Ramblas area of Barcelona.

In a statement issued on behalf of the family, Julian was described as a ‘much-loved and adored’ son.

“He was so energetic, funny and cheeky, always bringing a smile to our faces,” the statement read.

“We are so blessed to have had him in our lives and will remember his smiles and hold his memory dear to our hearts.”

We’re thinking of the Cadman family at this time. It must be incredibly comforting to know that so many people want to help them in any way possible.
