Yesterday, we reported on the Israeli woman who set a new record by giving birth to her first child at the age of 65, and now another mum has hit the headlines with her latest birth.

According to reports this morning, a German mother-of-13 has given birth to quadruplets at the age of 65.

Annegret Raunigk, from Berlin, reportedly gave birth to three boys and a girl via Caesarean-section on Tuesday of this week.

The mother made the decision to undergo artificial insemination with her latest pregnancy, and travelled abroad to have donated, fertilised eggs implanted.

Raunigk previously made headlines with her pregnancy, with medical experts questioning her decision and her ability to physically bear the children.

The children were born in the 26th week of pregnancy, but thankfully media reports state that they have “good chances of surviving”. The mother, meanwhile, is said to be “doing well under the circumstances”.

We hope that these babies will continue to thrive, and that their mother makes a speedy recovery after the birth.
