A father has been charged with the murder of his two children and the attempted murder of his wife today, following a fire at the family home last year.

Police have confirmed that 46-year-old Endris Mohammed will appear before a court over the deaths of eight-year-old Saros Endris and Leanor Endris, six, and the attempted murder of Penil Teklehaimanot.

Back in October, Endris was found in a burning car in Straffordshire hours after his two children had been discovered in a house in Birmingham following a blaze.

They later died in hospital.

According to a police statement, the inquest heard that neither smoke inhalation nor burns were the cause of the children's deaths.

Forensics are still doing tests to determine the cause of death.
