Recently, a little boy – dressed up as Batman, no less – came to the rescue of a baby who was stuck inside a hot car, and now a four-year-old girl has carried out some heroics of her own this week.

Little Rosie Moran has been credited with helping to save a family from a fire in their home, after being the first one to spot the smoke.

The four-year-old was out cycling her bike with her dad, Sean, and little sister, and scooted ahead down the street. Before Sean realised what was happening, Rosie had come speeding back to him, raising the alarm after spotting smoke coming from a house in the distance.

“I jogged up and followed Rosie and she took me to this house. And sure enough, I looked around the corner and the side of the house was all on fire,” said Sean.

When Sean yelled into the house, the Ortiz family were taken completely by surprise – they had no idea that their house was on fire.

While Sean began hosing down the fire with a garden hose, Ernie Ortiz grabbed his wife and daughter, who were taking a bath in the room next to where the fire had broken out.

Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after, and firefighter Ashley Rosenbaum has paid tribute to heroic Rosie.

“It’s pretty amazing to see a four-year-old do the right thing. Luckily, she was there to see that in time,” said Ashley.

Now, in acknowledgement of her bravery, Rosie has been made an honorary fire fighter, complete with her own badge.
