2FM presenter Louise McSharry has been receiving a lot of praise after her appearance on Ray D'Arcy's show on Saturday night.

Talking about her new book, Fat Chance, the expectant mum spoke out about her experiences of fat shaming and body image.

"I wanted the book to serve a purpose.

"For me my journey with body image has been really difficult, but I'm in a really good place now and I kind of feel a little bit like an evangelist.

"I want to help people to feel better about themselves."

Here is a real actual book that I have written.

Starting to get emotional discussing the issue, Louise went on to talk about some of the things people have said to her in the past.

"We live in a world that is absolutely cruel to fat people.  Fat people's bodies are up for discussion all the time.  People feel entitled to talk about them.  People feel entitled to tell you about your fat body face to face."

"When I was 15 I had a guy write 'fat girl' in big black permanent marker on my schoolbag.

"I was in the smoking area of The George one night with a friend and a guy behind me, I'd never met before, started shouting 'fat b' at me."

Since the interview, people have been very quick to show their support for Louise and praise her honesty on the show.

Louise is 24 weeks pregnant with her first child after successfully winning her battle with cancer last year.
