One mum in Australia is making waves online this week, after sharing an ‘important’ message on Facebook following a serious car crash.

Angela Brown took to the social networking site to urge other parents to keep their children in rear-facing seats for ‘as long as possible’, to ensure maximum safety.

In a now viral post, Angela explained how, back in February, she and her two young daughters were involved in a serious car crash when her SUV crashed into a tree.

Not only did the car flip, ending up upside-down, but a tree then landed on top of the vehicle.

The accident left one of her daughters with merely a bruised shoulder, while the other child – who was almost two at the time – ended up breaking her back in two places.

Both children had the exact same amount of protection in the form of their seats, so why the dramatic difference in their injuries? According to Angela, the unharmed child had extra protection from the fact that she was in a rear-facing seat.

Referring to the pictures in the post, she wrote: “So as you can see: two children in the same car crash restrained properly - one with life-threatening injuries, and the other with none.”

Highlighting the merits of placing children in rear-facing seats for as long as possible, Angela urged parents reading her post to learn from her ‘mistakes’.

“I was always unsure about turning my babies around, but after our crash and the hard evidence we are presented with, I will forever rearward face my babies as long as I possibly can. Don't make the same mistake as I did. It could cost you your baby’s life,” she added.

Her daughter is now in her third month of treatment, and the family have no clue yet as to how long it will take for a full recovery.
