A woman, who is eight months pregnant, was refused entry to a nightclub in Manchester because she was wearing flat shoes.

Art teacher, Abby Ashcroft, was attending a hen party for a friend when she was told she couldn’t come into Club Liv, to which she was devastated: “I’m annoyed to say I cried. This woman upset me. I couldn’t help it. I’m not an emotional person. I don’t really get upset but this shocked me. I felt victimised. We were all sober and dressed well. It didn’t make sense.”

The woman in question at the nightclub told Abby she couldn’t get in, although they were on the guest list: “The clipboard lady looked everyone in our group up and down and stopped at me: ‘You can’t get in here with flats on,’ she said. I honestly thought she was joking, ‘I’m pregnant,’ I said.”

To this the nightclub employee replied: “Fortunately when I was pregnant, I was still able to wear heel. You can’t come in.”

The mum-to-be says the incident ruined the night out and she intends to complain to the nightclub about the night in question.
