Each week, we cover amazing stories of incredibly courageous mums and families, and this latest one is absolutely heartbreaking.

A pregnant woman reportedly saved the life of her unborn child by using her final words to contact the police to help her baby.

Courageous Kimberley Richardson was tragically shot last weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina and managed to make one final phone call to the police to alert them to the horrific incident.

The 25-year-old, who was six months pregnant, contacted police from behind the building where she worked, with an audio recording capturing her last words.

The operator is said to have heard Kimberley say: “Help. I’ve been shot.” When asked for her phone number, Kimberley said, in between long silences: “I can’t….I can’t talk. He shot me.”

Police were able to locate Kimberley, but sadly she passed away in hospital shortly after. Doctors were, however, able to save Kimberley’s daughter, who was delivered by emergency Caesarean-section.

The authorities later arrested Kimberley’s 25-year-old boyfriend, Daniel Steele, and he has been charged with first-degree murder.

A fundraising page set up to help out Kimberley’s family to pay medical and funeral costs states that Kimberley had already chosen the name for her daughter – Lacy Grey.

What an absolutely devastating story.
