While the only thing that really needs to turn up on the Big Day is you, there are a few things you should probably do in preparation for it:

Find a reliable source of information

There will be so many different sources of information from various people, books and online searches that it is important you find one source that you trust and find reliable and stick to it. The last thing you need is conflicting advice that just stresses you out!

Physically prepare

We’re sure the last thing you want to do is any form of exercise, especially if you are eight months gone, but you need to physically prepare because giving birth is hard going. Yoga is a great form of exercise to not only get you to relax but also to help strengthen your body for what’s about to come.

Have a few pain managing options

Even if you want to have as natural a birth as possible, it is still important you have a few pain managing options ready so that if you do decide to avail of them, you will be able to make an informed decision.

Check out the route to the hospital

This is probably one of the most important things you can do! Have whoever is going to be driving you on the day to have a run through of the route. You should probably do it as well in case you end up needing to drive yourself in! Have a few routes up your sleeve in case of traffic or road accidents and check if there are going to be any roadworks that might be happening around your due date.

Ignore the birth stories

Listening to other people’s birth stories is definitely the last thing you want to do right now, especially horror ones. While people might feel they are helping you prepare for the worst, you will end up feeling stressed over something that you don’t need to be worrying about.

Ask questions

It is important you don’t hold back if you have any concerns. No matter what it is, ask your doctor or midwife, nothing is silly if you’re worried abut it.

And don't forget the hospital bag
