Chocolate chip cookies
This is a great basic recipe to start the kids cooking.

220g sugar

200g butter

Pinch salt

2 tbsp condensed milk

1 tsp natural vanilla extract

300g plain all-purpose flour

175g milk chocolate bits

Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F / Gas Mark 4. Line two large baking trays with baking paper.

In a large stainless steel bowl, cream together the sugar, butter and that pinch of salt. You can use a wooden spoon or an electric mixer, just make sure to work the butter and sugar together well.

Add the condensed milk and vanilla, beating together well.

Add the flour and gently bring together.

Mix well and then stir through the choc bits.

Spoon heaped tablespoon-sized mounds on to the baking trays, flatten slightly and cook in batches for 15 minutes or until golden. 

Allow to cool on the tray then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
