Christmas chocolate shortbread

Delicious chocolate shortbread which is a perfect Christmas gift.
Shortbread
250g butter
150g caster sugar
40g cocoa powder
300g plain flour
½ tsp bicarbonate soda
1 tsp baking powder
Topping
2 tbsp cocoa powder
175g icing sugar
60ml hot water
1 tsp vanilla extract
Christmas sprinkles
Preheat oven to 170°C/325°F/Gas 3.
Line a baking tray with a sheet of baking paper.
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add the cocoa powder, plain flour, bicarbonate soda and baking powder and mix well.
Roll into balls, lay on to the lined tray and slightly flatten.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Allow to cool on a wire rack.
To make the topping, put the cocoa powder, icing sugar, boiling water and vanilla extract into a small saucepan and whisk over a low heat until everything is combined.
Remove from the heat and cool for 10 minutes.
Once the biscuits have cooled, spoon a little of the chocolate glaze on top and glue the Christmas sprinkles to this.
