Garlic and melted cheese wedges

Garlic and melted cheese wedges
Gooey melted cheese with garlic make these wedges of bread irresistible.
 

85g butter, room temperature

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

175g strong white cheddar cheese, grated

2 tbsp chopped parsley

¼ tsp crushed dried chillies, optional

1 round French country loaf, or ciabatta

Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F / Gas mark 4.

Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and set aside.

Mix the butter and garlic together until well combined, then mix in the cheese, parsley and chillies if using.

Cut the bread in half crossways through the centre.

Spread the cheese mixture on the cut sides of both bread halves.

Wrap each half loosely in foil and put on a baking tray.

Bake for 20 minutes then unwrap the foil and bake a further 10-15 minutes until they are golden.

Cut into wedges and serve.
