Pizza dough

Learning a basic pizza dough recipe opens up a number of new home cooking opportunities for you, from the humble Margherita Pizza to a tasty New York Calzone.
450g strong white flour
½ tsp of salt
1 sachet (7g) fast acting yeast
300ml warm water
1 tbsp oil
Semolina for dusting, optional
Combine the flour and salt together in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the centre and add the yeast .
Add the oil to the water and gradually pour onto the yeast, mixing in the rest of the dry ingredients with your hand until a dough has formed.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for5-10mins, until dough is smooth and elastic.
Return the dough to its bowl and cover loosely with a tea towel or cling film. Leave in a warmish place to ‘prove’ until the dough has doubled in size. This should take about an hour.
When the dough is ready, dust a board with semolina if you want to use it (otherwise use flour) and give it a quick knead. Roll out into one flat pizza base or split dough if you wish to make multiple small pizzas.
