These traditional churros are irresistible and go perfect with melted chocolate.
230ml water
30g white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Pinch salt
500ml olive oil for frying, plus 1 tbsp for baking
125g all-purpose flour
100g white sugar, to taste
Chocolate or whipped cream to serve
Line a tray with parchment paper and line two plates with kitchen towel.
Pour your water into a saucepan on a medium temperature.
Spoon in your sugar, cinnamon, salt and 1 tbsp of oil. Bring to the boil and stir in your flour to make the doughnut mix.
Pour your oil into a large pot and turn the temperature up high. Be very careful when near hot oil.
Spoon the doughnut mix into a pastry piper and pipe out 8 churros onto the parchment paper.
Gently place in the hot oil and fry until golden about 4 minutes. Only cook two at a time to ensure the oil stays hot.
Remove and drain on kitchen towels.
Coat with sugar and serve with Nutella or whipped cream.
