Parents all over the world were left deeply upset by the story of Yamato Tanooka, the seven-year-old who was abandoned by his parents close to bear-infested woods, and we are sure there will be a lot of strong reactions to the latest news.

Japanese police have confirmed that the little boys’ parents will not face charges for leaving their son alone in the wilderness, in Hokkaido.

“We plan not to regard it as a criminal case,” a spokesperson said, in a statement.

According to reports, the focus will instead be placed on helping little Yamato to recover – emotionally and psychologically – from his ordeal.

Yamato went missing on 28th May, after being left close to bear-infested woods by his parents, as ‘punishment’ for bad behaviour.

In details that have emerged since, Yamato is said to have initially chased his parents' car before growing disorientated and running down the wrong path. He then walked for five hours before finding an exercise hut on the grounds of a military base.

Yamato was eventually found, almost a week later, by a member of military personnel.
