Eight-months-old: Feeding and sleeping - it's all go, go, go

I am writing this from a bed in Tallaght hospital after being admitted following the worst abdominal pain I have experienced.

They have decided to keep me in for tests but I am wishing and wishing I was at home with the babies - this is the last thing I need.

Thankfully, my mum is staying with us as were are getting them christened on Sunday, so she there holding the fort while my husband works and copes with the nights.

The babies are doing great, thank God. They are eight-and-a-half months-old and are all doing great with their bottle feeding and their food feeds.

I give them all the same foods now, although Róisín sometimes only takes a small amount, but they are all experiencing new flavours and textures and generally liking everything they are given.

I try to give them as much of a variety as possible so that they get a taste of the different fruits and vegetables, as well as chicken and cheese.

Next to try is fish so I am hoping to try that this week, if I get out of hospital soon that is.

Active wise they are all rolling now (even Elliot joined in at the weekend!) and the girls have great strength in their arms to push themselves up.

They also like to feel their legs, but Rebecca in particular seems very impressed with herself when she manages to stand up on my knees, holding my hands.

They also enjoy interacting with each other too and are often seen smiling away at each other, or Elliot is heard laughing away at his sisters.

They are such happy babies and are always smiling away; they are rarely upset, but I quite often find if one does become unsettled, the others will follow suit, highlighting their close bond.

This is particularly strong amongst the two girls.

It is just hard because you are then trying to settle two or more babies, instead of just one.

As far as bedtime goes they are sleeping much better now and are only fed once in the night. They do still wake a bit and have a little cry but it is soon resolved with a soother.

They are generally awake by 7am (or before but I refuse to get up...) and are down by 7pm.

I have just put the girls in separate cots hoping they will sleep better but not sure if it has made a difference really.

They really bring such joy to our lives; we are just truly blessed.
