Congratulations, you’re pregnant! So now that you’ve spent a lot of time imagining what the baby will look like and bought those adorably tiny socks (don’t worry, we won’t tell) it’s time to think about what being pregnant really means.

We’re sure you’ve got heaps of questions so let’s dive in!

So the first trimester is the time when your baby’s development will be at its greatest. In thirteen weeks he or she will be fully formed. It’s also the time when you’ll experience the most intense pregnancy ‘symptoms’ like morning sickness, sore boobs and fatigue. Not very fun but at least it’s good to get it out of the way first right?

It’s never to early to start prenatal care, so the first trimester is the time to stock up on those vitamin supplements and start chowing down on fresh fruit and veg and wholegrains. A smoothie packed with fruit and dark green leafy veggies is a fantastic way to build up that iron and fill you and baby with vital nutrients.

Talking of prenatal care, it’s also time to make that initial appointment to visit the doctor. You’ll have between 10-15 prenatal visits so make sure you’re comfortable and happy with the doctor you’ve chosen!

And we know you probably want to shout from the rooftops that you’re expecting a little one, but it’s advisable to wait around 12 weeks before telling anyone. Hug your special news to yourself for a little while longer and get used to the idea first before you tell anyone. When you’re past the three-month mark you can tell everyone you’ve ever met, even the postman!
