This is a Chocosaurus cake I made recently for my son's 2nd birthday but I think it would make a super halloween cake too.!!  It looks pretty cool and is surprisingly easy to make!

For an 8 inch round basic cake:

8oz butter softened

8oz caster sugar

4 medium eggs

2 tablespoons milk

7oz self-raising flour

1 tsp vanilla extract

Icing:
6oz unsalted butter or margarine
1lb 14oz icing sugar, sifted
8 tablespoons milk
2oz cocoa powder, sifted

Decorations:
4oz shredded or desiccated coconut
A little green food colouring
16 after eights
2 liquorice disks for eyes
250g smarties
2 x 65g packets chocolate buttons

Toss all cake ingredients into food mixer and mix for a few minutes.

Spoon the mixture into lined tin and bake at 160⁰C for 1hr 35 mins or until golden and firm.

To make dinosaur and decorate:

Cut the cake in half and make one half the body. Divide the 2nd half up to make the head and tail. Just shape it as you think a dinosaur should look.

Beat all icing ingredients together until smooth and creamy.

Spread all the cake pieces with icing and arrange in the shape of a dinosaur. Cut the after eights in half diagonally and arrange on the head and back of dinosaur.

Place the 2 liquorice disks on the side of head for the eyes. Stick all the chocolate buttons and smarties into the chocolate icing until completely covered.

Put coconut and colouring in a bag and shake well until evenly covered. Spread the coconut onto your cake board to resemble grass.

And lastly... ENJOY!
