Week 22: Car seats are sorted, but what about the buggy?

At my 14-week scan, my consultant advised me that when I got to 24 weeks, I would probably be ready to finish work. On hearing this, I almost fell off the bed! I am a very fit and active lady and thought there was no way I would be finishing up work so early in my pregnancy.

So here I am at Week 22, and I have to say in the last week or so I have really felt my energy levels start to change. I am getting a bit more tired now and I definitely feel physically bigger. My bump is certainly there for all to see! I am also feeling a lot like the babies are trying to push their way out with regular heads or bottoms sticking out!

We are still looking at travel systems and car seats, so last Friday we decided to go and try out the Maxi Cosi baby car seats in our Honda CRV to see if three across the back seat will work. We love our car because it has such a big boot (and foldaway picnic table!) but we needed to make sure that the baby car seats can all be fitted safely side-by-side.

We tested all five Maxi Cosi car seat models that are suitable from birth, trying many different combinations with a very knowledgeable and patient baby store adviser. The best option for us has turned out be the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix model, using two baby seats with the isofix base, while the centre baby seat will be secured by the car’s safety belt.

The babies’ travel system was our next most important decision and after many hours spent researching mum reviews onilne, we have decided to go for the Trippy buggy. We have placed our order so we can triple-check (pardon the pun) that we can get the buggy in and out of the car. Will keep you posted!
