A 28-year-old woman who took to social media to claim she was vicitmised while breastfeeding her child in a Primark store has been told she could face imprisonment for lying about the incident.

Caroline Stormer, who posted a damning indictment of the Primark chain on Facebook, hit the headlines after she claimed she had her child taken off her while nursing the infant.

Recounting the alleged incident which was purported to have taken place in July, Caroline wrote: "My 9.5 month old daughter started crying, needing a feed and the queues were pretty long, so to save my daughter the upset, and the other customers too, I decided to find a quiet spot out the way of others and feed her discreetly."

Accusing the security guard on duty of inappropriate conduct, Caroline went on to say: "Within five minutes of doing so, I was approached by a security guard who asked me to vacate the premises to feed my daughter."

"I stood my ground and stated my rights, that I can legally feed where I want.. Just for the security officer to physically remove my daughter from my breast and walk down the store with her, saying if I wanted my daughter, then I was to come and get her," she claimed.

After Caroline's story began circulating on social media, various press outlets ran the story forcing Primark to address the issue and deny any wrongdoing.

Commenting on the incident at the time, Primark asserted: "The CCTV footage, reviewed by store management, shows the customer in the Leicester store quite clearly during the time in question. We can see no evidence that she was approached by anyone during this period."

Defending themselves against Caroline's accusations, the security guards on duty at the time of the alleged incident insisted it was a fabrication, with the statement continuing: "The security guards on duty categorically deny behaving in the way alleged. Furthermore the individuals do not fit the description given by the customer."

Caroline Starmer appeared at Leicester Crown Court today and admitted she had lied about the incident - a decision which may now result in prison time.

Commenting on Ms. Starmer's case, His Honour Judge Simon Hammond said: "This is a very serious matter. The court will consider a custodial sentence."

On December 3rd this year, Ms. Starmer will be sentenced for intending to pervert the course of justice.
