Budget friendly apple crumble
A fast, easy and gentle of the pocket book apple crumble recipe.

6 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced

6 tbsp caster sugar

3 tbsp water

250g plain white flour

150g butter

50g demerara sugar

100g porridge oats

Preheat the oven to 190°C / 375°F / Gas mark 5.

Grease an oven proof dish with a little butter.

Place the apples in them in the bottom of the oven proof dish

Sprinkle with caster sugar and water.

Mix the flour, butter and brown sugar until they are like breadcrumbs alternatively blitz the mixture for 15 seconds in a food processor.

Stir in the oats and scrape and pour the mixture on top of the apples and

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.

Allow to cool slightly and serve with custard, cream or vanilla ice-cream if you like.
