Chocolate Smarties cookies

115g butter at room temperature
110g light brown sugar
50g white sugar
1 large egg
Makes 24 x 4-5 cm cookies.
1tsp vanilla extract
130g plain flour
30 grams cocoa powder
½ tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
260 grams chocolate chips or chunks
Smarties to decorate
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat well.
Sift the cocoa powder and flour together and then add it, the salt and baking powder to the butter mixture.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Spoon a tablespoon of mixture onto the prepared baking sheet spacing 4cm apart.
Decorate with Smarties.
Bake for approx 10 minutes until they are soft in the centre but are firm around the edges.
Remove from the oven and allow cool on the tray for 5-10 minutes, before removing to a wire rack to allow them to cool completely
