Gratin dauphinois
The perfect side dish for any dinner party.

1,5kg potatoes

2 garlic cloves, crushed

30cl cream

80g butter

1L whole milk

¼ tsp nutmeg

Salt and pepper

Peel, wash and finely slice the potatoes. In a large saucepan, bring the milk to a boil with the garlic, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Add the potatoes and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C. Generously butter a rectangular baking dish. Drain the potatoes and place them in the dish. Add the cream and place small knobs of butter over the potatoes. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes.
