Oat biscuits
If you want a nice healthy budget friendly treat for the kids, these are ideal and keep well.
 

75g plain flour

½ tsp bicarbonate of soda

75g demerara sugar

75g porridge oats

75g butter

1 tbsp golden syrup

Preheat the oven to 160°C / 325°F / Gas mark 3.

Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and set aside.

Put the plain flour in a bowl with the bicarbonate of soda, sugar and porridge oats and mix together.

Heat the butter in a pan with the golden syrup then combine with the flour and oats mixture.

Set them apart to allow for spreading on the baking tray and bake for 7-15 minutes depending, until golden brown.

For soft biscuits, take out of the oven after 7 minutes. For a crunchier biscuit, keep in for up to 15 minutes.
These can be frozen at the point of rolling the balls.
Simply store then remove to thaw before baking as instructed above.
