Pear and Almond Puffs

1 x 500g Block Jus-Rol™ All butter puff pastry
4 ripe pears, peeled, halved and cored (choose the rounded variety rather than the long ones)
100g marzipan
Egg white, beaten
Caster sugar for sprinkling
3 tbsp jam Glazing
Preheat oven to 220°C / 200°C for fan assisted ovens / 425°F / Gas M 7.
Fill cavities of the pear with marzipan
Roll out pastry to a rectangle approx. 20 x 40cm/8 x 16" cut into 8 equal squares.
With a sharp knife, slice through the pears but leave pointed end intact.
Place one pear half diagonally on a pastry square, pressing pear lightly to slightly 'fan' the slices.
Brush the pastry edges with beaten egg white then bring up the corner nearest the rounded end of the pear and press onto pear.
Brush again and sprinkle with caster sugar.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until pastry is risen and golden.
Gently heat jam and sieve to remove the large pieces of fruit.
Brush each pear with melted jam and allow to cool before serving.
