Raspberry jam hearts
This recipe is especially for kids on valentine's day. Children will love helping you roll out the pastry, cut the heart shapes out and spoon jam generously over the pastry.

450g shortcrust pastry (ready bought)

1 egg beaten

1 jar of raspberry jam

Icing sugar, to dust

Heart shaped cookie cutters

Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F / Gas Mark 4. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Roll out the pastry to about 1.5 cm thick.

Using heart shaped cutters, cut out 8 pastry hearts and arrange on your prepared baking tray.

Brush the edges of the cookie with the beaten egg and bake in the oven for aproximately 10 minutes or until golden.

Take out of the oven and spoon jam generously over the biscuit, in a smaller heart shape and bake in the oven for another five minutes.

Leave to cool on a wire rack and once cooled dust with icing sugar.
