Stained Glass Window Cookies
Gorgeous hanging Christmas decorations which are fun to make with children.

350g plain flour

1 tsp bicarbonate soda

Pinch of salt

1 tsp ground cloves

2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

100g butter

175g soft brown sugar

1 egg, beaten

4 tbsp honey

1 bag of fruit flavoured boiled sweets

Twine/ribbon, for hanging

Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4

Mix the flour, bicarbonate soda, salt, ground cloves and black pepper together in a bowl.

Mix in the butter and soft brown sugar.

Add in the beaten egg and honey and mix well.

Bring together to form a dough and roll out on a floured surface.

Roll out to about a ¼ inch thick.

Cut into shapes of your choice using Christmas cutters. Place them on a lined baking tray.

Cut another hole in the centre, this will be the stained glass window.

Make a small hole at the top of each biscuit using a straw for threading twine through later.

Crush the boiled sweets using a rolling pin in separate sandwich bags according to colour.

Fill the holes in the centre of the cookies with the crushed sweets.

Bake for 10-12 minutes.

Leave the biscuits to cool on a baking tray.

Once completely cooled, thread twine through the holes and make a loop to hang from the Christmas tree.
