Summer berry loaf

Lovely loaf which makes the most of Summer berries.
140g caster sugar
175g butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
250g self-raising flour
2 tbsp milk
100g mixed berries
Berry Buttercream
140g butter
200g icing sugar
3 tbsp strawberry jam
2 tbsp milk
Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4.
Grease and line a 900g loaf tin.
Beat butter and sugar together.
Add eggs one at a time, beating between each addition
Add vanilla extract.
Sift in self-raising flour, add milk and mix together. Mix will be quite stiff at this point.
Spoon half the batter into the tin, spread with half the berries.
Add the rest of the batter and scatter the with the rest of the berries.
Transfer to oven and bake for about 50 minutes or until a cake skewer comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and leave to cool.
For the icing, beat together butter, icing sugar, strawberry jam and milk until smooth.
Once the loaf has cooled, spread the top with the berry buttercream icing, scatter with berries and serve.
