Our children are truly precious to us - which is why we end up spending so much money keeping them healthy and healthy. From new clothes to school books, there's plenty our children need.

However, when we see the sum we spend in front of our eyes it can feel absolutely mind-boggling!

A new survey from Irish Country Living magazine found that Irish parents spend about a quarter of a million euro on their kids before they turn 25.

Yep, we had to just pick our jaws off the floor too.

Of course, with Irish people getting married later and later, that means the figure doesn't even cover any costs related to weddings!

First Holy Communion proved to be one of the biggest expenses for parents, the Irish Examiner reports, as it can cost between €700 and €1,000.

According to Newstalk, children receive €800 to €1,000 worth of gifts for their Communion, so at least there's a monetary gain, too!

Between fees, food, and holidays, it's no wonder we end up spending so much on our children.

But we have to say, there's nothing more worth it than our kids!

Do you have any handy tips for saving money, mums? Are you surprised by how much we spend on our kids?
