You never know when you are going to be in need to lifesaving help, and it is then when the everyday heroes step up to the plate. This is what movers Steven Hill and Jason Nelson have been hailed as, after they saved a baby girl from certain death after a car crash.

Hill and Nelson almost didn’t make it to the scene - they had a moving job out in Jacksonville, Florida, and they had intended to wait until the following day to carry it out. However, by some stroke of fate, the men set out at 1am to do the job – and came across a burning car on the road.

While driver Daniel Dufek had died at the scene, the men decided to take his body out of the car – a move that alerted them to Dufek’s infant daughter in the backseat.

Hill proceeded to jump into the flaming car to rescue the child, and despite the fact that he himself was injured as he struggled with the melting seat harness, he wasn’t about to give up.

Speaking to local media after successfully rescuing the child, Hill said: “There was no way I was going to let a baby die, no way. I’d burn first, for sure.”

Just as Hill managed to pull the tot out, the car’s gas tank caught on fire and the vehicle went up in flames.

The child was brought to a local hospital, where she was said to be in critical condition. However, medics have told media sources that they expect the tot to heal – and Hill has vowed to make sure she is looked after.

Promising to check in on the tot throughout her life, Hill said: “I just hope she’s okay, whether she does anything with her life…You don’t have to be a president to be something special.”

We truly hope that this little girl will get the care and attention she so badly needs.
