Bean and banger pasties

Bean and banger pasties
These simple pasties tick the yummy boxes and make for ideal finger food that satisfies.
 

2 tbsp olive oil

1onion, finely chopped

4 thick pork sausages

½ tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp dried oregano

415g tinned baked beans

1 tbsp tomato puree

2 sheets ready rolled puff pastry

1 egg yolk

1 tbsp of milk

Sesame seeds, optional topping

Preheat the oven to 200°C / 400°F / Gas mark 6.

Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and set aside.

Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and cook the onion until soft.

Remove the skins from the sausages and mash a bit.

Add to the pan and fry for 5 minutes until golden.

Stir in the smoked paprika, oregano, baked beans and tomato puree.

Cook for 5 minutes then remove from the heat and leave to cool.

Beat the egg yolk and the milk together in a bowl.

Cut the pastry into 12 squares then brush the edges with the egg and milk wash and divide the sausage and bean mixture between the pastry pieces.

Fold over the edges and pinch to seal using your fingers.

Pierce a slit or small hole in each pasty and layer them onto the baking tray.

Brush the surface of the pasties with egg wash.

Cook for 20-25 minutes, until the pastry is golden.

Cool slightly before serving.
