In a world where people share every minute detail of their lives online, we have heard some pretty off-the-wall stories in our time, but this one has to be the most puzzling of recent times.
A 12-year-old schoolgirl from Florida found herself in trouble with the law this week, all because she pinched the bottom of a male classmate.
Breana Evans was arrested by police after pinching the boy as part of a ‘game’ her and her friends were playing in between classes at school.
According to reports by local media, the incident occurred earlier this month, but the boy in question told school authorities that he didn’t want to take the issue any further. However, his mother contacted management shortly after, expressing her desire to press charges.
Breana was then arrested and charged with misdemeanour battery over the incident, which she has described as ‘just a joke’.
The charges against Breana will apparently be dropped if she carries out community service and passes a drug test.
Speaking to local media agency WKMG, Breana said: “I regret it because I didn’t know it would lead to this. I feel like it’s stupid – just a stupid charge that shouldn’t have to happen.”
Meanwhile, Breana’s father has condemned the move by the police and the other student’s parents, saying it’s a total overreaction.
