Many children dream of attending Hogwarts one day, and thanks to a dedicated teacher this dream has come true for the students of Evergreen Middle School, Hillsboro.

Teacher Kyle Hubler spent a grand total of 70 hours working on bringing The Wizarding World to his seventh and eighth graders new classroom.

When he found out he was being moved to a new classroom, Kyle jumped at the chance to redecorate. He thought Harry Potter was the perfect theme because it means a lot to him on a personal level.

Kyle opened up about his childhood and told HuffPost that the books made him feel accepted and understood, “I didn’t belong to any circle of friends, and reading the books was a way to escape that and feel like I did belong.”

J.K Rowling’s tales mean the world to Kyle’s students too, who were stunned when they walked into their new classroom. Kyle said his student’s jaw dropped to the floor when the room was unveiled to them.

The kids were thrilled with the transformation says Kyle, “They were scrambling around the room to inspect every little detail.” They couldn’t help but show off to their fellow students.

Kyle understands how difficult school can be for some children and believes that it is important to make sure they are as comfortable as they can be.

Bringing the magic of Hogwarts to Evergreen Middle School took a lot of work. Kyle, who has been a teacher for four years, spent over five weeks on this project. He headed into the school a month before the new school year rolled around to create the magical room.

Kyle used his own merchandise to decorate the room and shares that the entire project was completely out of pocket. He wanted his students to believe that dreams do come true.

The teacher shared that he always wanted to go to Hogwarts when he was younger, “It feels like I made my 12-year-old self-proud and fulfilled that kids dream.”

Mr. Hubler believes the Harry Potter books have had a positive impact on him throughout his life. As he grew up he realised that the books taught him many valuable life lessons, including how to be loyal and the importance of accepting everyone.

The classroom is full of Harry Potter memorabilia, from broomsticks to Hufflepuff posters and from spell books to the Sorting Hat. Kyle hopes the Harry Potter inspired classroom will make his students “feel like my class is a place they are excited about going to.”
