Mum, Magdalene King’ori has filed a complaint with a school in California, US, after her son was punished with cleaning the bathroom for six days and developed a whooping cough after.
The punishment was given to a number of students over a bullying incident and the students were tasked with cleaning the bathroom, picking up rubbish in the yard and sweeping the school hall.
Following the incident, it has come into question whether cleaning bathrooms should ever be an acceptable punishment for a school child.
The school have since said that they do not believe the child’s cough was caused by his punishment as he had been wearing gloves and was only picking up paper towels from the ground.
