A furious mum has blasted a British primary school after her five-year-old son left school unnoticed and walked home alone.

Young Jaron Smith snuck out of class and left the school grounds by jumping over a fence, going on to walk the ten-minute journey to his nearby home. His little adventure also saw him walking across busy main roads.

Needless to say, Jaron’s mum Jade was raging when she discovered that her son had made the trek home completely unsupervised – with staff at his school failing to even notice.

“I couldn’t believe it, I was at home and Jaron just walked in through the front door. At first I thought he had got into trouble and been brought home by a teacher, but he was on his own,” she said.

Branding the incident as “appalling”, she said that she was surprised at the school and was horrified at by the thought of what could have happened.

“It’s not a bad school by any means but you put a lot of trust in teachers to look after your children and this has made me doubt that,” she added.

Speaking after the incident, the school’s head teacher Karen Briggs said that procedures were in place to ensure that it would never happen again.

“We are never complacent when it comes to child safety and will be reviewing this to see if there’s anything we could have done to prevent this happening,” she said.

This is the second frightening school-related story to hit the headlines today, with children and staff at a school in Cambridge making a terrifying discovery at their school gates.
