Dietary fibre can be found only in plant foods and is important in helping to keep the bowel healthy. Fibre is found in foods such as the skins of fruits, vegetables, nuts, lentils, beans and lots of grain-based foods such as breakfast cereals and muesli bars.
 
These fall into 2 categories:
  • high in fibre or excellent source of fibre - contains at least 6 grams of fibre in a serve
  • good source of fibre - contains at least 3 grams of fibre in a serve 
Foods high in carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are an important source of energy and should make up between 45-65 percent of energy in people’s diet. The main sources of carbohydrates are grain based foods (breakfast cereals, bread, rice and pasta), vegetables high in starch like potatoes , sugars and fruit and milk products.
 
Products low in salt
Products that are considered low in salt must not contain more 0.3g of salt /100g of food.
 
Products low in fat
Fats are the most highly concentrated form of energy . Low fat foods are defined as less than 3% fat  and are found in foods such as meat, biscuits, pastries, crisps, cakes and full fat dairy foods. 
 
Did you know the majority of Kellogg’s cereals are low in fat.  Kellogg also makes low salt cereals such as Mini Max Original.
