When you send your child off to school for the day, you can never tell what’s going to happen – but you do expect that your precious little ones will be safe and treated justly by the teachers.

This explains why parents from a school in Mexico are so outraged this week, after their children were forced to run laps as punishment for a classmates’ indiscretions.

According to reports, seventh- and eighth-graders (typically aged 12 to 14) from Gregory Luna Middle School were ordered by their gym teacher to do bear crawls and run laps after a fellow student brought what was essentially a pellet gun to class.

With claims that one female student suffered from a panic attack after the incident, parents have naturally expressed concern and anger over this controversial form of ‘punishment’.

Indeed, while some parents have branded the move as ‘abuse’, the gym teacher’s actions have been condemned by school authorities who claim they will be issuing ‘appropriate discipline’.

How would you feel if your child was forced to make up for another classmate’s bad behaviour, and in such a manner?
