Parents are being warned to remain vigilant after a man reportedly followed a young girl home from her school last month.

Gardaí have also been alerted to reports of a hooded man hanging around primary schools in the Killiney and Shankill areas - it is believed to be the same person.

The man is described as being in his early 30s and of slight build, and allegedly followed a pupil home from Scoil Mhuire in Shankill.

A number of schools have put a text alert out and Gardai are urging locals to keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour.

“There have been a number of reports of suspicious approaches to children and the description of the man in question has been consistent. While there have been no arrests, parents are being warned to teach their children about safety especially as the nights draw in,” a source told The Irish Mirror.

As mums, we want to protect our children from harm so it is important we teach them about stranger danger, and keep reminding them as they get older.
