Parents at a school in Missouri are outraged after a book called It’s Perfectly Normal was given to their middle school children.

The book is aimed at children aged 10 years and older and educates young people on sex, their changing bodies and sexual health.

Parents, however, are concerned about the images in the book which they claim to be overly graphic. The book’s images show cartoon drawings of sexual acts as well as naked drawings of men and women.

It’s Perfectly Normal is available to children at the Francis Howell School District’s middle school in ebook form but has been called to be removed.

Tim Schmidt, a parent, said about the book: “Most of the time, when I showed this to parents, their jaws just hit the floor ... they were shocked and their next reaction was outrage.”

The book has caused such a strong reaction it would seem, because it “actually shows people having sex,” according to Schmidt.

Not all parents are upset about the availability of the book, as June Tiller demonstrates: “I feel like if the school teaches them this, and they have the information available, it’s very important and it will keep them safe.”

Would you be upset if your children were given access to a sex-ed book containing cartoon images of people engaging in sexual intimacy?
