As most mums can attest, schooldays, whether we like to admit or not, can be simply rife with worry.

Whether speaking from personal experience or seeing it with renewed perspective through the eyes of our children, it's fair to say our formative years were often spent fretting over friendship groups, raging over rules or deliberating over deadlines.

One person, who knows all too well how stressful schooldays can be, is EasyJet captain, Wayne Mott, who recently went out of his way to remove worry from the minds of concerned schoolchildren flying from Cyprus to London Gatwick.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, more than 30 children were forced to miss school after their plane was delayed, and while that may delight some, it was a clear cause of concern for others.

Dismayed by the evident worry etched across some of the pupils' faces, Captain Mott leaped into action and set about allaying their fears.

"Some of the children were pleased they were going to be missing school the next day, but some were looking a bit nervous," he explained before revealing he wrote more than 30 absences notes to assure his younger passengers.

"I wrote all sorts of things to the teachers explaining the absences," Captain Mott who has been a pilot for 15 years, told the Petersfield Post when relaying the event which is unlikely to be forgotten by the appreciative young schoolchildren.

What an incredibly compassionate gesture!
