Gingerbread skeletons

350g plain flour

1tsp bicarbonate soda

2tsp ground ginger

100g butter

175g brown sugar

4tbsp golden syrup

1 beaten egg

White writing icing

Sieve the plain flour, mix 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda & 2 tsp ground ginger together.

Using the rub-in method, combine the flour mixture with the butter. Once it resembles fine breadcrumbs, stir in the brown sugar, followed by the golden syrup and egg. Mix to form a soft dough.

Roll out and use a specialised cutter to make your gingerbread men.

Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at Fan180ºC/Gas Mark 5 for 10-12mins.

Once the cookies have cooled completely, use white writing icing to mark out your gingerbread skeletons’ bones.
