There is frightening news emerging from Cork this morning, as a bus carrying 52 secondary school students has overturned.

The incident occurred on the road between Fermoy and Ballyhooly, known locally as The Back Road, just before 8:30am.

Two teens were trapped in the bus which is believed to have overturned onto its roof, but, thankfully, were freed unharmed.

Up to three children were taken to hospital for minor injuries after the incident which occurred on a bend.

It is understood that there was a lot of surface water on the ground and weather conditions are described as poor.

There was a yellow weather warning for the entire county last night, with spot flooding in many parts of the south and west.

Parents have been informed and the road is still closed.
