Knowing when your kids are on school holidays means you can be organise childminders or holidays around these times.
 
While schools will provide their own detailed list of closures, we have provided a general compilation of when school closes for mid-terms and holidays.
 
For pupils in the Republic of Ireland
 
August
Thursday, 28th School reopens after the summer holidays.
 
October
Schools are closed on Monday, 27th – Friday 31st October inclusive for mid-term.
 
December
Schools will close for Christmas holidays on Friday 19th December and reopen on Monday, 5th January.
 
February:
Schools will close for mid term on Thursday, 19th an Friday 20th February. Keep in mind this is subject to individual school.
 
March:
Schools will close on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th for St. Patrick’s Day.
School will also be closed on Friday, 27th March – Friday, 10th April inclusive for the Easter holidays.
 
May:
Schools close on Monday, 4th and Tuesday, 5th for May break
 
June:
Schools will finish up in Friday, 26th June for the summer.
 
For pupils in school in Northern Ireland
 
The school system in the North of Ireland is slightly different to the Republic of Ireland.
 
September
Most schools will start back after the summer holidays on Monday, 1st September 2014.
 
October
For October mid-term schools will be closed on Thursday 30th and Friday, 31st October.
 
December
For the Christmas holidays, schools will close on Friday, 19th December and reopen on Monday, 5th January 2015.
 
February
There will be a mid-term break for most schools on 16th and 17th February.
 
March
Schools close on Tuesday 17th for St Patrick’s Day. Double check with your child's school, as they don't all close on this day.
 
April
For the Easter holidays, schools will be closed on Thursday, 2nd and will reopen on Monday, 13th April.
 
May
Schools will close for May Day on Monday, 4th May. It will also be closed Monday, 25th for the bank holiday
 
June
Schools will close on Tuesday, 30th June for the summer holidays.
