A young schoolgirl is reaching out to UK Prime Minister Theresa May to ask for her help in making sports and physical education a place for both boys and girls.
Seven-year-old Nya Ella was left disheartened after she felt unwelcome at a football practice.
In a five minute video, Nya tells her story saying:
“I was very excited to play football, but the only way I could do it was an after-school club that cost extra pennies.
“When I went I was the only girl and I was not made very welcome.
“I liked the football, but the coach was not very good accepting a girl with the boys. I didn’t go back as I felt sad.”
Nya’s mum Kate said she was surprised when her daughter spoke so eloquently about the issue even though it would be a regular conversation in their home.
“Her words were so powerful, I asked her to write them down.”
And we're glad she did.
