The summer holidays is an abundance of kids playing out on the street, riding their bikes and generally getting up to mischief. However, there are certain things that you need to do to ensure your child is safe at all times.

Helmet
Make sure they are wearing their helmet whenever they are out on their bikes, roller skates or scooters. It is important the helmet is fitted correctly and fits your child properly. Knee pads and elbow pads are perfect for when wearing roller blades as your little one can easily fall and scrape themselves when they are on these.

Suncream
Suncream needs to put on your child whenever they are outside, even if it is cloudy out. Apply it at least 15 minutes before they head out in the sun and make sure they wear a hat if they are out when the sun is at its hottest.

Water safety
When it comes to the beach or the local pool, it is important you are extra vigilant with your child. Make sure they never go out of your sight when you are on the beach and ensure you stay near to where a lifeguard is on duty. Never let your child approach the water on their own and when it comes to the pool tell your children not to push each other in or run around the edge of the pool.

Outside play
If your little one is outside playing make sure you can see them from where you are and that they know not to talk to strangers or go anywhere without telling you first. Make sure you teach your little one about stranger danger.

Playground safety
The playground is a great way to keep your child amused during the summer although it is important you don’t let your guard down when your little one is playing there. Check all equipment before they get onto to anything to ensure there are no hidden dangers. Make sure they don’t jump from heights or try to get onto somthing that is not suitable for their age.

The holidays can be a great way to spend time with your kids, just make sure it is a safe and fun summer as well.
