Sometimes we forget that teachers have a life outside the confines of the school walls, and while it’s always important to ensure your children are under the best care possible, digging deep into someone’s personal life can prove a little too invasive sometimes.

This seems to be the broad consensus on the internet this weekend, after a school teacher in the States found herself under scrutiny over her fitness-modelling photos.

While she is now a teacher at North Sanpete Middle School in Utah, Jensen previously worked as an award-winning model, and her Instagram account proudly features some of her favourite images from that phase of her career.

Mindi has found herself at the centre of controversy this week however, after a parent came across her Instagram page and complained to school authorities over it. Apparently, this parent – along with many others – believed that photos of Mindi wearing skimpy workout gear during training sessions and competitions are ‘pornographic’.

Speaking to local media, Mindi said: “Some kids found it and the parents were appalled by the pictures. They called it immodest. They called it pornographic. They called the pictures inappropriate, and these...show [me] in my sport, in my uniform in my bodybuilding sport.”

Mindi, who is herself a mum-of-four, said that she was given three options by school management: make the photos private, delete the photos, or be fired.

Needless to say, Mindi was unhappy with how the school handled the complaint, and she hit back at the criticism against her.

Since the story went viral, Mindi has received an apology from the school district, and the superintendent is working to educate parents about appropriate internet vigilance.
