Standing there in their illuminous yellow hi-vis jacket, holding on to a giant stop sign, lollipop ladies (and men) have complete control of the roads - if they tell you to stop, you stop.
Always waiting with a smile, they will keep your most precious little person safe as they cross the road, and we would be LOST without them.
Here are 11 reasons why lollipop ladies (and men) are the BEST people ever:
1. They actually say hello
Not many people are in the mood to acknowledge your existence at that time of the morning, never mind say hi!
2. They keep our kids safe
People turn into crazy drivers when they’re running late for work, but the lollipop lady (or man) keeps them in line by making them wait until all kids have safety crossed the road.
3. They have a huge smile for the kids
A smile that is actually pretty contagious!
4. They are there come hail, rain or snow
And they will get our kids safely to school.
5. They make the effort to actually get to know the children
And no it’s not so they will receive a nice box of chocolates at Christmas. A box they totally deserve, by the way!
6. In their eyes, kids ALWAYS trump cars and adults
Kids are their major priority and no adult or car will even come between them and getting the students across safely and on time.
7. They don’t just protect the kids from the road
They have eyes on the back of their head and they can spot trouble a mile off...
8. They let the kids try on their hat
And for some that is the best memory of school.
9. Their “good morning” is the chirpiest you’ll receive all day
Its like they've had five cups of coffee already... (maybe they have...)
10. They sometimes actually have lollipops
And they are always the BEST lollipops ever!
11. They'll make the cars wait until the last straggler is across
There is always one kid who drags their feet down the road, reluctant to go to class, but the lollipop person will wait for them - no child is EVER left behind.
