In lots of households, either mum or dad will do all the cooking while the kids never get involved. In other households, the kids actively help to prepare meals, even if it’s just helping to stir cake batter.
Cooking together in the kitchen will help them develop an interest in food and cooking and is the best way to encourage lifelong healthy eating habits.

Your child will learn valuable lessons during the time you both spend in the kitchen such as; how to read and understand a recipe, how to follow he set of instructions, how to measure and weigh foods accurately, how to whisk, fold, grate, chop and how to appreciate food.

As your child gets older, time spent preparing food for the family will help build self-confidence as he learns to take control in the kitchen and make meal decisions for the whole family.  Cooking with kids also gives the added bonus of focusing on a shared task which is a great way to find out things about their lives and how they are getting on at school.
