Everything was going fine, until your parents decided to have another baby and you were about to become the dreaded middle child.

And while there are a number of advantages of having both an older and younger sibling, mainly that they are the parents’ focus and you are always on top of trends (usually!), there are a few struggles that only a middle child will ever be able to understand.

We're sure your middle child will understand these struggles all too well!

1. People can forget you are there

The youngest is the cutest and the eldest is the more mature. The middle child is... eh...?

2. Conflicting parenting rules

The eldest child usually has to endure the perils of an over-protective parent while by the time the youngest comes around rules have gone out the window. The middle child in comparison is stuck right in the middle of parenting rules - it is definitely a confusing time!

3. Being left out

The oldest gets the TV remote because they’re the eldest. The youngest gets the TV remote because they’re the youngest. The middle child gets nothing...

4. Being in the middle. All. The. Time.

In the car, on the aeroplane, at the dinner table - always squished between your siblings!

5. Nothing is new

You get all the hand-me-downs. All of them!

6. You never get your own room

When the youngest was born, the eldest moved into a new room while the baby moved into yours.

7. You have to solve the fights

Being in the middle meant you were automatically in the middle of sibling fights, so you are the one who always has to solve the problems.

8. You don’t know who you are!

You have been handed down so many toys and outfits that you can’t quite figure out who you are as a person and what you like!

9. You’re never the spoilt one

Oh no. That’s kept for the first and last born, not the spare born!

But never forget....
