Here are ten little surprises you can treat your son or daughter to after a long day of learning.
1. Make them a happy lunch
Rather than just dishing their lunch up in a bowl arrange it so that it looks like a smiley face!
2. Be their fairy godmother
If you are feeling brave why collect them from school dressed as their fairy godmother and take them off on an adventure.
3. Walk home backwards
You don’t have to go backwards all the way but it will certainly give you both a good giggle!
4. Have a popathon with lots of balloons
Before you leave to collect them blow up a number of balloons and leave them around the house. Stick a little prize in one and get your youngster to go around popping them when they arrive home.
5. Make it a little tricky to get up the driveway
Before you leave the house, set up an obstacle course in the driveway so that getting up to the front door is a little more fun! Alternatively, draw ‘stepping stones’ on the ground with chalk and don’t let them walk outside of these circles!
6. Make them a trophy
Make sure your little one knows how much of a champ they are working hard at school by presenting them with a ‘Well Done on your First Week Back to School Trophy’.
7. Put a candle in their lunch
Candles aren’t just for birthdays! Why not celebrate your little one starting preschool with a candle in their roll and a little sing-song!
8. Fill their bedroom with balloons
But let them find out on their own!
9. Make a scavenger hunt to their lunch
Jazz up lunch a bit by creating a treasure hunt with their sandwich as the end prize.
10. Have a picnic
Take them to their favourite park for a surprise picnic if the weather is good. If it's a little wet, you could always bring it inside and have it in your living room in front of a movie.
